History
The track opened in 1969 as Alabama International Motor Speedway and was renamed Talladega Superspeedway in January 1989. At 2.66 miles it is the longest oval NASCAR races on, and it is known for huge drafting packs and multi-car crashes. International Speedway Corporation owned it until 2019, when NASCAR took over through its merger with ISC.
