History
The track opened as a dirt oval in 1959 and was paved in 1962, the same year Richard Petty won its only NASCAR Grand National race, the Rocket City 200. It also held a NASCAR Southeast Series race in 2003. The speedway shut down partway through 2013 and reopened in April 2016, and it has run weekly shows since then.
