History

Promoter Walter 'Skip' Wetjen built the half-mile paved oval in Irvington, and it opened in 1965. Stars such as Red Farmer, Bobby Allison and Rusty Wallace raced there, and it later drew the NASCAR Southeast Series, ARCA and the K&N Pro Series East. Eddie Shoemaker owns the track now, and the opening scenes of 'The Final Destination' (2009) were filmed there.
