History
A.J. Schwichtenberg built the quarter-mile oval on a former chicken ranch near Wasilla, and it opened in 1997 as the northernmost paved oval in North America. NASCAR sanctioned it from 1998, and Lud Larson's North Star Speedway Inc. bought it in 2000, with a local racing association running race days. Falling car counts, lost sponsors and local opposition led to a cancelled 2012 season and a $1.5 million sale listing.
