History
The strip near Butte opened in 1964 as Polar Dragway under the Nelson family. New owners renamed it Alaska Raceway Park in 1994, and it joined the IHRA the next year, winning a track-of-the-year award in 2003. The drag strip switched to NHRA sanctioning in 2019 and remains the only one in Alaska.
