History

Jim Vaill built Lime Rock on a former gravel pit, and it opened in April 1957. Today it is one of the oldest continuously operating road courses in the country. Skip Barber owned the track from 1984 until he sold it to Lime Rock Group in 2021. It has no grandstands, so fans watch from grassy hillsides. NASCAR national series have raced there again in recent seasons.
