History

The track opened in 1978 as DeSoto Speedway, a 3/8-mile paved oval east of Bradenton, and sat abandoned from about 2018. YouTube personality Cleetus McFarland (Garrett Mitchell) bought it in January 2020 and renamed it the Freedom Factory. He created nitrous-equipped Crown Victoria racing, including the Freedom 500, which became a popular pay-per-view and live event series.
