History

J.D. Forney, founder of Forney Industries, started the museum in Fort Collins in 1955 and it later moved to Denver. Its roughly 800 artifacts include automobiles, carriages and locomotives, among them a Union Pacific Big Boy steam engine. A well-known car in the collection is Amelia Earhart's 1921 Kissel.
