Historic 1940s dirt oval on Little Rock Road in Charlotte; not related to today's Charlotte Motor Speedway and no longer operating.

History

This three-quarter-mile dirt oval, owned by Carl Allison, hosted the very first NASCAR Strictly Stock race on June 19, 1949, in front of roughly 13,000 fans. Glenn Dunaway crossed the line first but was disqualified for illegally modified rear springs, handing the win to Jim Roper. The track is long gone; the old listing wrongly pointed to the separate Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord.
