History
The South Bend Auto Racing Association opened the track on August 23, 1946, and it became a hotbed of postwar midget racing. It went through several owners and closures, including a shutdown in 1987 and a mostly dormant stretch from 2007 to 2011. The Sauer family, owners for its final eight years, could not find a buyer to keep it racing and sold the land in 2024, ending a 77-year run.
