History
As part of redeveloping Hutchinson Island, local officials built a county road network that was designed to double as a race circuit. It was the first U.S. public road planned for racing from the start. The course held the 1997 Dixie Crystals Grand Prix for Indy Lights, which Helio Castroneves won. The promoter then went bankrupt and no major racing returned.
