History
Bristol opened in 1961 as a half-mile oval and has belonged to Speedway Motorsports since 1996. Its asphalt was replaced with concrete in 1992, and seating has grown to roughly 146,000, making it one of the largest sports venues in the country. The track was covered in dirt for spring NASCAR races from 2021 to 2023, hosted the 2016 Tennessee-Virginia Tech football game, and staged an MLB regular-season game in 2025.
