History

Fireball Roberts designed this complex south of Augusta, which opened in 1960 with a road course, half-mile oval and drag strip. In November 1963 it held NASCAR's Augusta 510 on the road course, which Roberts won not long before his fatal crash at Charlotte. The facility shut down after 1969 and the land became Diamond Lakes Regional Park.
