History

The museum opened in July 1974 in the 1930 Art Deco showroom and offices of the Auburn Automobile Company, which built cars there until 1937. Its collection centers on Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg automobiles. The complex was named a National Historic Landmark in 2005 as a rare, well-preserved independent automaker's facility.
