Altamont Raceway Park

Altamont opened in July 1966 in the hills west of Tracy and used several names over the years, including Altamont Speedway and Altamont Motorsports Park. It is best remembered for the December 1969 free concert where a fan was killed during the Rolling Stones' set, shown in the film Gimme Shelter. Racing ended in 2008, and the property was later turned over to autonomous-vehicle testing.
