History
John Jones opened Motion Raceway about three miles north of Assumption in 1970 and ran it until 1983. It drew national stars such as Don Garlits and Shirley Muldowney, and was cut to a 1,000-foot layout because its total length was too short for quarter-mile speeds. The property later served as grain storage, a planned 2008 revival collapsed, and its tower was moved to Macon Speedway.
