History
Built by H. Clay Earles, Martinsville opened as a dirt track in 1947 and was paved in 1955. It is the only track that has been on the NASCAR Cup schedule every season since the series began in 1949, and its winners famously receive a grandfather clock. Now owned by NASCAR, the paperclip-shaped half-mile also hosts the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 late model race.
