History
The museum is built around the vast private collection of Tacoma refuse-company owner Harold LeMay, which once topped 3,000 vehicles. After his death, the city provided land next to the Tacoma Dome, and the roughly $100 million building opened in June 2012. About 350 cars are on display, and the site also has a restoration shop and an outdoor show field.
