History
The half-mile opened in 1946 as a dirt track and was paved in 1970. It hosted NASCAR's top series from 1955 to 1971, including the first flag-to-flag live national TV broadcast of a Cup race in 1971. Racing ended after 2022 under owner Kevin Whitaker; in 2025-2026 county officials blocked demolition plans and passed a resolution recognizing the speedway as historic.
