History
The Forsyth County Fairgrounds in Winston-Salem had a half-mile dirt oval that saw racing from about 1929 into the early 1960s. It hosted two 100-mile NASCAR Grand National events in 1955, and Lee Petty won both. The separate paved Bowman Gray Stadium became the city's main racing venue.
