History
Heartland Park Topeka opened in 1989 as the first new major U.S. racing facility in about two decades. For more than 30 years it hosted the NHRA Heartland Nationals as well as NASCAR Truck Series and road-racing events. A tax dispute with Shawnee County shut it down in 2023. The IHRA bought the facility at the end of 2025 and renamed it Darana-Heartland Motorsports Park.
