History
The half-mile oval in Cayce opened in 1948 and hosted NASCAR's top series from 1951 to 1971, along with Convertible Series races where Richard Petty earned his only win in that division. It raced on dirt for most of its life and was paved just before its final Grand National races in 1971. Noise complaints ended car racing by the end of the 1970s, and volunteers later restored the site for festivals and concerts.
