History
Broadcaster Ken Squier and partners including paving contractor Reginald Cooley opened the third-mile oval in Milton in June 1965, when it was among the most modern short tracks in North America. Tom Curley became promoter in 1978 and launched NASCAR North, later the ACT Tour, which ran 51 events there through 1987. When the landowners declined to renew the lease after 1987 the track closed, and Catamount Industrial Park now covers most of the property.
