History
Austin Raceway Park was a combined drag strip and 1.5-mile road course north of Austin near Pflugerville. Organized events ran from about 1965 to 1972, and the closure has been blamed on tax questions and noise complaints from nearby ranchers. Street racers kept using the strip into the 1980s, and the land was later developed for housing.
