History

The Syracuse Mile began as a harness track, and its first auto race in 1903 made it one of the oldest auto racing sites in the country. AAA and USAC national championship cars raced there for decades, and from 1972 it hosted Super DIRT Week, the top event for big-block dirt modifieds. After the 2015 event New York State razed the grandstand and track for a fairgrounds rebuild, and Super DIRT Week moved to Oswego Speedway.
