History
Kentucky Speedway opened near Sparta in 2000 and ran IndyCar and NASCAR's lower series before Speedway Motorsports bought it in 2008 and won it a Cup date starting in 2011. Its first Cup race was marred by severe traffic jams, which led to road and parking improvements. NASCAR left after the 2020 season, and the facility now serves as a rental site for non-racing events.
