History

Local businessman Hugh Young began staging car races at Fairmont Park on the old Fair Haven fairgrounds around 1949. The first era ended in 1951 after a spectator was killed and drivers drifted to the newer Pico Raceway. C.J. Richards revived the oval for five seasons starting in 1962, and today only a turn-four wall and the outline of the track remain around a solar array.
