History

The track opened in July 1968 as Donnybrooke Speedway, carved out of woods near North Long Lake. Jerry Hansen bought it in 1973 and renamed it Brainerd International Raceway. Kristi Copham has owned it since 2006, and it combines a long road course with a drag strip that hosts a national NHRA event.
